My name is Barbara Gurgel, and I am an experienced Communication Specialist and Professional Writer. I’m inspired by and passionate about social justice, politics, and education, and I excel in turning wobbly thoughts into articulate, persuasive messages. My services span from Technical Writing Services to Editing and Proofreading Services, catering to a great variety of academic and industry needs.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, and a Master’s Degree in Professional Writing and Communication, both from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. I am also currently chipping away at a Master’s Degree in Journalism at Harvard Extension School. These areas of expertise, coupled with my certificates in Creative Writing and International Security, all support my role as a Communication Specialist.
My editorial experiences range from academic institutions to corporate settings, from poetry to survey writing. My latest work includes a two-book publication called “The Politics of Technology in Latin America” published by Routledge in 2021, for which I was both co-author and Lead Editor. I’m also currently co-leading the UNIDOS Employee Resource Group at Progress Software, just for fun.
I like to spend my time traveling, exploring urban landscapes with my dog and husband, and consuming thoroughly too much science fiction.
